The Original Matcha Tradition

Matcha originated in ancient China, with its earliest forms appearing during the Tang Dynasty (618–907) and becoming highly refined in the Song Dynasty (960–1279). During this era, Chinese tea masters developed the method of steaming, drying, and stone-grinding young tea leaves into a fine green powder — a groundbreaking innovation that later spread to other cultures and inspired new tea traditions across the world. Yet the roots of matcha remain firmly planted in China.

Today, Chinese matcha continues this centuries-old craft: shade-grown leaves, careful handpicking, gentle steaming, and slow stone grinding.
Our matcha carries forward this authentic heritage — the true birthplace of matcha.

Improves brain function

The main compounds responsible are caffeine, theanine, and catechins. For example, in a human study, participants who consumed matcha daily showed improved memory and attention compared to a placebo group. Research also shows that catechins in matcha have protective effects in neurological disorders.

Supports heart health

Regular consumption of matcha can have a cardioprotective effect. Specifically, the active compounds in the drink help lower “bad” cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood. Therefore, combined with a healthy diet, matcha can help maintain heart and vascular health.

Protects the liver

In one study, 80 people with liver disease unrelated to alcohol consumption received either green tea extract or a placebo. After three months, levels of liver enzymes ALT and AST decreased in the control group.

Improves skin health

Matcha has anti-inflammatory properties, including for the skin. Studies also show that tannins in matcha help reduce sebum production. There is evidence of green tea’s effectiveness in treating acne.

Helps control weight

Matcha is a good alternative to loose-leaf green tea and can be included in a detox menu, according to nutritionist Razarenova. However, it should be consumed with caution and within the recommended dose due to its high caffeine content.
